Random Fun!

There is no really purpose of this particular post except to share some fun photos and maybe a couple of videos. Aren't my girls cute up there sittin' on the couch colorin'? Nevermind Natalee's shaggy hair.

Now, onto something not-so cute. Have you ever heard of head cheese?

My dad made the hubs try some a few weeks ago. Why? you ask...just for fun. My grandpa owns a meat market in Muskogee and sells lots of interesting things.  Head cheese is one of 'em. Pickled pigs feet is another - but my dad did not bring those home on this particular day.

It looks normal in this picture but I assure you, it's not pretty.

Anyone know what head cheese is? Brains, that's what. It has absolutely nothing to do with cheese nor does it taste like it.

Darren tried it and was barely able to keep it down:

My darling three-year-old, Natalee, couldn't get enough of it though. She ate about 3 or 4 pieces of it. That kid will eat absolutely anything and then ask for seconds.

In other, non-brain-related news....we took the kiddos to the park last week. Look at my little cutie:

She sure does love to swing!

Big girls enjoyed the park as well.

In closing, just a couple of shots of my sweet baby while I was getting ready the other morning. I can't seem to get enough of her!

Happy Saturday!

Claire Bear: 9 months!

I have a baby and her name is Claire. She just so happens to be 9-months-old today! She very well may be the most precious 9-month-old on the planet.

We had her nine month well baby visit today. Check out my pretty ladies:

Claire was all over the place while we were waiting for the doc. But she sat still long enough for me to snap a pic. or seven.

I am flabbergasted by what I am about to type. She only weighed in at 18 pounds 14 ounces. According to the doctor's records, she weighed 18 pounds 8 ounces at six months. How did she only gain 6 ounces in 3 months? Last month when we weighed her at home, she weighed 19 pounds 4 ounces. She lost weight? Hmmm.....

Also, apparently she is 27.5 inches long (or tall). That's two inches shorter from my 8-month measurement. Someone's measuring stick is off!

This month, she's learned and changed so much. She is full-on crawling around the house. She follows me everywhere. I walk in to the kitchen, she scooting after me saying "mama mama mama mama...". I love it. She also learned to pull herself up to a stand a couple of times.

She takes a bottle and/or nurses six times a day and eats two "meals" per day of baby cereal and either fruit or veggies. The doc advised me today to cut back on her nursing/bottle sessions down to four and bump up her meals so she starts to become more interested in "food". It hit me whens she said this that my baby girl is not going to be a baby forever. We scheduled her one year well visit today! How could that be possible?

After Claire's doctor visit today, we had some time to kill before a 5:30 appointment so I took my girls to the park on this gorgeous day.

Claire was diggin' the swing and the big girls love to slide. They're fun. and cute. and I love them dearly.

Peace out,
L-Dogg.

Ocho!

Happy Eight Months Baby Claire!

Isn't she the sweetest?! I do believe she smiles more than any baby I know.

This past month has been full of excitement.

For starters, big girl got a new car seat! She was becoming way too heavy for her infant carrier and really too long. We decided to upgrade to this model. She looks pretty stinkin' cute in it if you ask me.

Baby Claire is weighing in at 19 pounds 4 ounces - up from 18 pounds 6 ounces last month. She's measuring 29.5 inches tall (or long, what is it?).

She's basically mastered the art of crawling. She can get up on all fours and move a few steps, then she just flops down her belly and army crawls across our floors. I also think she has said bye-bye and mama. Really, I'm probaby just imagining that's was she's saying when she's actually making a ba-ba-ba and ma-ma-ma sounds with her mouth 'cause it's easy. Either way, I'm marking them down as her first words!

In other news, big sisters learned a new skill:
In case you can't tell that says "Natalee".
and that says "Lyla". She decided she liked the letter "H" better than "A" at the end.

Also, in addition to celebrating by husband's birthday earlier this month, we also celebrated the birth of one of my favorite people - my sis-in-law, Jenny. Isn't she pretty?

Finally, we stopped by great papa's house for story time. This picture melts my heart. Love it! They made him read two separate books and asked him to read them over and over again. He was a good sport!

Toodles!
